Graduation Campaign Identity, Concept, Theme and Rationale

What is Colormancy? ‘Colormancy’ is how we would describe our art and creativity affecting the world surrounding us. It is a word we created to imply art as a movement that colors, animates and brings the world to life, impressing and shaping creativity.

a) Why COLOR? While it is true that shape, form and composition are also as important as color in the creation of art, color is the one that is most traditionally and popularly associated to art.
b) It brings to mind eventful and esthetic scenarios like ‘coloring the world’ ‘adding color’ ‘colors life’.
c) It’s called COLORmancy because art can animate and bring to life.
d) Also, because the word COLOR is almost a purely visual word (i.e. – it makes people visualize images instead of think of more words), it’ll synergize with the fact that our exhibition is more visual than verbal.

Logo Concept and Rationale

The logo is designed to be on the simplistic side, with a touch of cheerfulness and playfulness. This is representative of creativity, which is never a burden or a hassle; because for an artist, the simple pursuit or expression of creativity is nothing less than happiness itself. And because we are designers, we have used the speech bubble to represent how we mean to communicate with the audience with our art. In the speech bubble, the word ‘COLOR’ is colored in 5 different colors to represent how 5 different groups of students (Illustration, Advertising, Interior Design, Multimedia and Digital Animation) make up the united essence, - the ‘colors’ - of this exhibition. Each of these 5 colors also reflects on the dominating strengths of each major.

a) ORANGE for ADVERTISING represents their vitality and perseverance in tirelessly working on the many things that they do, including the machinations of this campaign.
b) YELLOW for ILLUSTRATION to represent their openness and willingness to expand their expertise from traditional mediums to more modern, digital ones; as well as the willingness they show in helping out with this campaign.
c) RED for INTERIOR DESIGN because red is the color of action and with their many dealings with mock-ups, Interior Design is decidedly the most physically involved and active major.
d) GREEN for MULTIMEDIA to show growth, for the realm of multimedia design is one that is still growing with fields like interactive websites and cellphone software rapidly blossoming.
e) And BLUE for DIGITAL ANIMATION to represent unity, for out of all of the 5 majors in our batch, none needs teamwork more than the Digital Animation students.
